Beate's Weekend Challenge #67

The images for this card were stamped from Inkadinkado's Fall Season stamp set. I embossed with Versamark & Rusted Penny embossing powder from Powder Keg. The cardstock is from Papertrey Ink & Daisy D's Autumn Collection. The ribbon is Close To My Heart & I used a few baubles from The Robin's Nest. I also enhanced the circle around the pumpkin with a Yellow Ochre Cat-eye chalk.

Healthy Recipe Swap - Carribean Chicken Salad

I participated in a healthy recipe swap & made these recipe cards. I used my Sizzix to cut the apron & the oven mit. The patterned paper I had on had from an unknown source.
I stamped the chicken using Crafty Secrets image & used a loop brad for an accent with a ribbon. I used a green Cat-eye to highlight the apron mit, & recipe card. I used Stampin Up markers to highlight the pockets on the apron.
Those of you wanting the recipe, here it is:
Layered Caribbean Chicken Salad
3 cups shredded romaine lettuce (for bigger salad, use more. I use 2 bags)
2 cups cubed cooked chicken
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 (15oz) can Progresso Black Beans, drained, rinsed
1 ½ cups diced peeled ripe fresh mango
½ cup chipped seeded Italian plum or cherry tomatoes
½ cup thinly sliced green onions
½ cup cashews

In clear glass serving bowl, layer all salad ingredients in order listed. Serve immediately or keep refrigerated until ready to eat.

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

I made the following Thanksgiving cards tonight. These were a lot of fun! The "Eat Ham" cards were made using Daisy D's paper & Stampin Up cardstock. I used Doodlebug rick-rack for both designs. The stamp is from Inkadinkadoo. I added primas to this card.

This card I added a clip from Stampin Up to the black cardstock.
Both designs I embossed the black cardstock with Swiss Dots by Cuttlebug. Which design do you like the best?

This card was made a bit differently. I used all Stampin Up cardstock & the image is also from Inkadinkadoo. I used glossy cardstock & Tim Holtz alcohol inks for the background behind the turkey. I love using these alcohol inks!!! They are so much fun. The turkey was stamped with black Staz-On. The background cardstock was embossed using Cuttlebug branches and then I enhanced it using a Cat-Eye chalk in brown. I finished with a Stampin Up ribbon.

Now, I have to get these in the mail! Turkey day is almost here.

50th Anniversary

My hubby & I attended a 50th wedding anniversary party on Saturday evening. It was awesome! I was short on time & made a really quick card using my Cricut Expression machine. I cut the letters using Alphalicious; the sentiment was cut from Beyond Birthdays, & the corners were cut using Storybook. The black cardstock is Stampin Up & the gold is from DCWV. This was really fast!

Mystery Tea Luncheon

Whew! It was a busy weekend. I did quite a few crafts using my new Cricut Expression machine. I love it! Also, I organized and attended a Mystery Tea Luncheon at the Tea Plantation in The Villages. The ladies that attended had a great time. We had a "High Tea" lunch with finger sandwiches, cranberry iced tea or your choice of hot tea, scones, devonshire cream, real preserves & Victorian spongecake. Yummy! After eating we played a mystery murder game where everyone has a part with props. We had to guess who murdered the Earl of Grey. It was absolutely hilarious! The parts fit everyone perfectly. I was "Ida the Cook" and you can see me dressed in a hair net & chef coat.

Seated from left to right is me, Karen, Dotty, Debbie, Jane, Carolyn & Mary.

If you have never had a tea luncheon I highly recommend them.

Karen was "Victoria the eccentric socialite".

Dotty was "Kay Nine", Debbie was "Willa the physical trainer", Jane was "Anna", Carolyn played 2 parts "Macy" & "Earlene", & Mary was "Bea the Housekeeper".

Tea Bag Holders

I made these tea bag holders as small gifts of appreciation for the ladies that attended a Mystery Tea luncheon at the Tea Plantation located at The Villages. I cut the holders using Cricut Fabulous Finds. I embossed them with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots. I used primas & bling as accents. The sentiment was stamped using Close To My Heart - Cup of Friendship. I finished with an organza ribbon.

Bookmark Swap

This is my very first bookmark that I have ever made! I made six of these for a swap. I used my Cricut Expression to cut the bookmarks. The cartridge used is Tags, Bags, Boxes & More. I stamped the sentiment & butterfly using Butterfly Happiness from There She Goes. I love Jessica's stamp sets! I added a brad, eyelet, & ribbon to complete. I also laminated the bookmark. I used two pieces of cardstock to make the bookmark sturdy. Makes me want to go & read now!

12X12 Christmas Layout Swap

I made the following 2 page 12x12 layout using my brand new Cricut Expression machine. I used Christmas Cheer cartridge to make the sleigh & presents. The paper is from my LSS & I used metallic DCWV to accent the bottom of the sleigh. I added some bling to the presents & the journaling card. The sentiment was cut using Beyond Birthdays. I used Stampin Up cardstock for the layout. I made 5 of these 2 page layouts to swap out. This was certainly a lot of fun!

New Opportunities

Hi everyone! I have had some major life changes occur lately. Last Friday, October 31st was my last day at work. Trick or treat!!! My company had a reduction of jobs & my position was eliminated. There were several peers & co-workers that have been affected. While it was a sad, bittersweet day it was also a new day of change for me! I am actually looking forward to doing something different with my life. After working 28 years for the same company perhaps I can find something totally different to do that I am passionate about. I am a firm believer that when one door closes, another opens!

I will be working on updating my blog and bringing it up to speed. I can't wait to do some crafting. My dear hubby bought me a Cricut Expression for my birthday. I am learning how to use it and so far am loving this machine! Stay tuned for more updates to follow.
